It is important for the US to support strengthening Afghan Security forces to provide a counter-balance to the Taliban. The swift re-takeover of the Taliban proves why this should have been a priority beforehand. The US should not only provide military strengthening, but better train the Afghan government in negotiating and diplomacy.
