The Impact of Current School Voucher Programs

Share

Published March 28, 2023

Currently, there are very few voucher programs in effect in America. One reason is because opponents of voucher programs are very powerful and have been effective in preventing them. The few voucher programs that are operational spend, on average, $6,300 per pupil‑much less than the public school’s per pupil spending of $13,000–$14,000.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What are the pros and cons of vouchers being regulated or unregulated by the state?
  2. Whose role is it to provide education: local, state, or federal government?
